How do I register for YYLC?
- Click the "Register Now" button to begin your registration.
- Watch for our emails from yylc@isc-mail.com. We will send a confirmation when your application is accepted with detailed information about YYLC including what to pack and when to arrive.
- Read and sign the YYLC Rules Agreement. Bring it with you to on-site registration
- If you have to cancel for any reason, notify us immediately at yylc@isc-mail.com.
What does the registration fee include?
The fee includes room accommodations for 5 nights, all meals, roundtrip airport transportation from Charlotte, NC (CLT) on arrival/departure dates, a t-shirt and drawstring backpack, a Bosom Buddy handbook with exclusive content to use at the conference and then take home with personal notes and discoveries from the week. Senior Alums will also receive an additional book for discussion.
What is the cancellation / refund policy?
Partial refund for cancellations made before June 30 will be available; requests for refunds must be made in writing via email; a $100 application processing fee will be retained and not refunded. Refunds are issued to the person that paid the registration fee. NO REFUND will be given after June 30.
Out of courtesy, we ask that you notify us if you are unable to attend so that we may accurately plan for the conference.
Are any discounts or scholarships available?
Early bird discounts are automatically applied for those registering before a specified date.
Alum refunds are available for 2nd or 3rd year alums at 10% off the early bird registration fee and for 4th year and above alums at 15% off the early bird registration fee. Register at yylc.org and pay the full registration fee. After the conference, we will verify each alumni's eligibility and then mail a check equal to the appropriate discount amount to the person that paid the registration fee.
Are there additional costs for meals? What meals are provided during YYLC?
All meals are provided during the conference starting with dinner on the first day through breakfast on the last day.
A pre-paid snack card is available to purchase with your registration. Attendees can use this snack card to purchase pizza, snacks or drinks during free time in the evenings. This is an optional purchase, however we do not accept cash for snack purchases on site. Cards are available in $15 and $20 increments and may be purchased online with your registration. They can also be purchased during the onsite registration.
What is the age range for attendees?
Attendees must be 15 by the first day of the conference and no older than 25 for first time participants; only Alums may exceed the maximum age limit.
What does a typical day at YYLC look like?
A typical day at YYLC starts with wake-up calls around 7:00am followed by breakfast in the campus dining facility. At General Session, attendees get an energetic start to their day. Throughout the day, meetings to read and discuss the curriculum within assigned groups (councils) are interspersed with hands-on activities, interactive learning experiences, and of course lunch! The evenings round out after dinner with an activity, a daily wrap-up session and some free time before bed. Evening activities include structured mixers, a talent show and a semi-formal banquet on the last night.
How do I get to YYLC? Is Transportation provided to and from YYLC?
Attendees are responsible for their own transportation by either driving to YYLC or flying into the Charlotte (CLT) Airport. Bus transportation will be provided at specific times on arrival from CLT Airport to YYLC and again on the departure day from YYLC to the CLT Airport. Please plan on 1 hour travel time between the airport and YYLC. Complete details will be in the confirmation packet you will receive by email after registering. On-site registration is held from Noon to 4:00PM on arrival day. Please eat lunch before you arrive.
Who books my flights?
Attendees are responsible for booking their own flights.
What do I do and where do I go when I get to the Charlotte airport?
Once you exit your plane, proceed to the Baggage Claim area and go to the YYLC table to check in with staff. Staff will be onsite to assist all attendees in boarding the buses. More specific details will be provided in your confirmation packet.
What time should I arrive at the airport?
On arrival day, your flight should arrive by 1:30pm. Flights that depart early in the morning are less likely to be delayed.
What time can I depart on the last day?
On departure day, the conference ends at 11:00am. Please plan for flights to depart after 2:00PM. Plan for a 1 hour travel time from the campus to the airport.
What if I can't get a flight that arrives by 1:30pm on arrival day?
If your flight arrives after the last shuttle departs, you will be responsible for taking a taxi, Uber or Lyft to YYLC. The attendee is responsible for this cost. We strongly recommend that attendees ages 15-17 plan their flights to arrive as early as possible to ensure they are able to catch the shuttle since the minimum age to take a share ride is 18.
What if my flight is delayed?
You will receive information on who to contact in your confirmation packet if your flight is delayed or cancelled. If your flight arrives after the last bus departs, you will be responsible for taking a taxi, Uber or Lyft to YYLC. The attendee is responsible for this cost.
I am an Alum, when can I expect my alum refund?
Refunds will be issued at the conclusion of the conference.
Is there a way to find out if anyone else in our area will be on the same flight as I am?

yylc@isc-mail.com and we will do our best to connect you with other attendees flying out of the same airport as you.
Is there free time?
Yes, there is free time to socialize around meals and in the evening before curfew/bedtime. Bring a football, Frisbee, etc. to enjoy during free time.
Will my child be safe and secure during the conference?
Attendees are to remain on campus at all times. Staff conduct role calls at each council meeting throughout the day as well as nightly room checks to ensure attendees are safe and accounted for. Campus security monitors the campus 24 hours a day. Mixers and small group councils guarantee that your child will immediately feel supported by the team leaders and will quickly form close bonds with other attendees.
How can I reach my child in case of an emergency?
Students are allowed to keep their cell phones during YYLC. We require them to be put away and out of sight during all meetings and activities. If you are unable to contact your child through their cell phone, you may contact
yylc@isc-mail.com and our office staff will reach out to your child's counselor with any questions or concerns and help you get in touch as quickly as possible.
Are phones or other electronic devices permitted at YYLC?
Cell phones are allowed during YYLC to stay in touch with parents. We do not allow cell phone use during meetings and encourage attendees to meet new friends during meals and free time.
No other electronic devices are allowed. We want our attendees to be fully engaged with the program to get the most benefit from their time at YYLC. Devices are targets for theft. YYLC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
What is the policy for bringing medication to YYLC?
When you complete online registration, please list all medications the attendee will bring. If you need to add or change a medication, you can email us at
yylc@isc-mail.com.
All medication must be packaged according to our YYLC Medication Policy so our staff can safely handle and distribute it during YYLC.
How are emergencies handled?
In the event of a medical emergency, campus security personnel and first responders are contacted immediately. Staff are trained to follow our emergency plan and are equipped with pertinent phone numbers. Emergency contacts provided on the registration form will be notified as soon as safely possible.
What time does YYLC begin and end?
Registration on arrival day is from 12:00 Noon until 4:00pm. Dinner is served at 5:00pm and the Opening Session begins at 6:15pm. On departure day, the last session ends at 11:00am.
What should I bring to YYLC?
You will be staying in a college dorm room so you will need to bring all personal grooming items (soap, shampoo, hair dryer, etc) and linens (sheets, blanket, pillow, towels and washcloths). A Linen package will available to purchase when you register-these items will be yours to keep. You may also want to bring a water bottle, talent show props, insect repellant, sun block, frisbee, etc.
What are the conference rules?
A complete list of rules will be included in your confirmation packets. Each attendee must attend all activities and be on time, observe curfews and the dress code. No smoking/vaping and no alcohol or narcotics are allowed.
What should I do if I did not receive a confirmation packet?
May I request a roommate?
We do not honor requests since roommates are assigned based on age. At YYLC, you will make many new friends and have plenty of opportunities to hang out with old ones, during meals, free time and general assemblies.
Are you able to accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?
The host campus dining service can accommodate some dietary restrictions and allergies. Most meals will have gluten-free and vegetarian options. Please contact us at

What qualifications or training do the YYLC staff have?
All of our staff are professional educators. Many of them have specialized training and degrees as well. All staff members must pass a nation-wide criminal background check. Campus security is also on call for emergency situations.
My confirmation packet said to bring props for a talent show. Is that mandatory?
The talent show is not mandatory. However, if you'd like to perform, come prepared with music (iTunes), instruments or costumes you may need.
What should I plan to wear on a daily basis at YYLC?
You should plan to wear casual clothing that meets our dress code. There will be a more formal banquet on the last evening of the conference. Please refer to the confirmation packet for complete details.
What is the lost key fee?
If an attendee loses their key at the conference, you will be billed for the replacement costs. You will be billed only what the university charges us. If you fail to pay this fee, the attendee's name will be added to our No Return List.
Our family does not have insurance. Is it still possible for my child to attend the conference?
You will need to complete the Insurance Release Form you receive in your confirmation packet with all signatures, addresses, and phone numbers. In the space for insurance information, please provide a valid credit card number with the card holder's name as it appears on the card, correct billing address, and security code from the back of the card. This information will be used only if your child needs immediate medical attention. The form is returned to the YYLC office at the conclusion of the conference and destroyed.
